Why are hobbies important?
Mr. Knight showing his hobby – Piano
I have been playing piano since I was about 20 years old. I began playing music on the guitar. I still play a little guitar, but I really like the full sound (harmony) I can make on the piano. I have played in several local classic rock cover bands. I am currently working on my sight reading skills. I would like to learn how to record using my computer. I have a recording program called LOGIC, but there are so many buttons I always get lost when I try to record. I have written 4 songs in my life. I would also really like to take classes on how to write songs.
The song that I played in the video is a Grateful Dead song called, “Monkey and the Engineer.” I really like the happy, jamming quality of the Grateful Dead.
Some of my other musical inspirations are Tom Waits, Willie Nelson, Jack Johnson, Wolfmother, Dave Matthews, Stan Getz, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Jack White, Talking Heads, Counting Crows, Elton John, Amos Lee, and a few hundred more artists. Thank you for reading.
Welcome to my garden. I have had many different gardens in my life. My first garden was mostly decorative plants that I were all grown in pots. I think I probably had over 100 plants in my first garden.
When I was in college at Chico I had just one plant. It was an Avocado tree that I sprouted from a seed. That little tree lasted until I moved to San Diego, but never produced fruit. Probably because I never took it out of the pot.
My current garden is around 12,000 sq. ft.. I began this garden in 2008. When I moved into my house this area was overgrown and had tree stumps and small bushes covering the ground. In the past 12 years I have added a deep rooting bed, a green house, a two-sided compost area, small blueberry patch, and a watering system.
I find gardening to be very relaxing and rewarding. I am still amazed when plants grow. I have found that plants will grow if they have the correct amount of light, water, good dirt.
I currently am growing butternut squash, tomatoes, zucchinis, garlic, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, basil, thyme, beans, kale, chard, figs, lemons, oranges, pluots, apricots, egg plant, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, pumpkins, and cucumbers.
